Bike Ride: Paris to Penybont

Monday July 13th to Saturday 18th July 2015

Starting at the Eiffel Tower our team will begin 6 days of cycling, covering the 500 mile journey home from Paris. The bike ride will be in memory of Hollie and in support of the Anthony Nolan charity.
Penybont (Bridgend) is the town Hollie’s family are originally from hence why it is our final destination. It is situated approximately midway between Cardiff and Swansea and will promise to host quite a reception for the team when we arrive home.
Whilst there will be a core number of cyclists completing the full 500 miles, we would welcome people to join for parts of the journey. The more the merrier!

Day 1 – Paris to Aumale approx.  85 miles

After a quiet evening in Paris the team will start riding early the following morning. Departing from the Eifel tower we will head out of the busy city to a small village called Aumale approximately 85 miles away. We expect to arrive at the village late afternoon / early evening.

Day 2 – Aumale to to Audinghen approx 90 miles

After an evening of recovery from the previous day, the journey continues another 90 miles to the coastaltown of Audinghen.  With only a short distance to Calais, our minds will all be thinking of heading across the channel to the English coast to complete our journey home.

Day 3 – Audinghen to Tunbridge Wells approx. 85 miles

Au revoir France and Hello England. The team will take a 15 mile short bike ride to the busy port of Calais. After a short ferry crossing we will arrive on the English coast with a further 70 mile bike ride arriving at Tunbridge Wells early evening.

Day 4 – Tunbridge Wells to Basingstoke 85 miles

A big day of cycling through Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire countryside pushing us towards the area of Basingstoke for our overnight stop. This day notes the biggest climb of the trip at 1700m of climbing.

Day 5 – Basingstoke Chipping Sodbury – approx. 75 miles

Another long day in the saddle clocking up the miles and head towards the Welsh border. With the Severn Bridge almost in sight the penultimate day promises to be a tough day.

Day 6 – Chipping Sodbury to Penybont – approx. 75 miles

The final day of cycling and the welcome return to Wales to meet up with friends and family. Travelling across the bridge back in to Wales we will pass through fantastic welsh countryside and will be within touching distance of home.
There promises to be a large party at the finish line!!
